You’ve have heard the expression, “It’s not what happens that matters but how you react to it that matters.” That may not always be the case, but it does give one pause to think. As we approach a new year, there’s no better time to think about our attitude toward life.
“The remarkable thing is, we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day.” – Charles R. Swindoll
People today are facing an incredible amount of pressure and stress. Yes, much of that stress and pressure is self-induced, but that’s only because we’re prone to let the world around us get us down — we’re letting the negative aspects of our world win, but we don’t have to.
No one makes us watch too much television. No one is forcing us to become obsessed with political dysfunction. There is no rule that says we have to waste precious hours on social media sites. That smartphone? Its really not so smart, is it? It’s also not necessary to have it in our hands 24×7. Where is it written that we have to schedule out every single minute of our day?
So yes, life can be a challenge, but we have within us the power to confront the bad elements of life and send them packing. We have the ability to change our perception of life and we have the capability to craft the type of life we really want for ourselves.
Consider this wise insight from Steven Aitchison:
“Reality is based on your perception of the truth.
Think about that statement for a bit, it will blow your mind, and blow the lid of what you perceive to be real and what is an illusion.
You are here to live YOUR life, YOUR way and on YOUR terms, not for the people you work for, not the people in the media, and not to live in the little box that society may have placed you in.
You are a unique individual, with talents, with drive, with passion, with ambition, with love, with laughter, with a soul that could melt the hardest of hearts, and with a mind as creative as Da Vinci.
You chose this life for a reason, and it certainly wasn’t to live a reality created by others. Is this the time to stand up, and say I can live my own reality, create what I want for my own life, have the things I want in life without guilt, knowing that you deserve anything you want and are prepared to put the time and effort into getting?
What if there was a way to bend your reality, a way to use your mind consciously to get what YOU want in life, become wealthy, feel comfortable in your own skin, meet the perfect man or woman, become more spontaneous, feel free, love, be open, be honest, be heartfelt, be grateful, be the one, love life, live, feel it, breathe it…. Welcome to Mind Alchemy Is this the time to Bend Your Reality?”

This is an interesting concept, albeit not a new one. My take away from his words is this: If you know what you want and need your life to be, don’t let society or others dictate it to you and that within you is the power to bring that dream into reality. My other take on it is that we should re-shape our minds to focus on the positive…to self-motivate by embracing the good and the possible. Our attitude shapes our mind, which in turn creates our reality. Think negatively and for sure, life will be negative. However, think positively and life will be brighter and more fulfilling.
“Watch your thoughts, they become your words; watch your words, they become your actions; watch your actions, they become your habits; watch your habits, they become your character; watch your character, it becomes your destiny.” –
During this holiday season, we would all benefit from some soul-searching and re-prioritizing. We may find that the things we think are of importance and value, really aren’t. In doing so, we will probably find that the simplest of life’s pleasures are the most rewarding. And, I’m confident that we will also realize that love, compassion, generosity, gratitude and positivity are among the most valuable things we can aspire to have.
“The way to happiness: Keep your heart free from hate, your mind from worry. Live simply, expect little, give much. Scatter sunshine, forget self, think of others. Try this for a week and you will be surprised.” –
